Good Evening, Everyone!
I’ve been crazy busy these days. I’ve been doing my best to keep my blog updated, but I’m afraid I’ve been sort of sucky when it comes to my Tumblr. I’m traveling a lot more now for work and when I get home I don’t have a lot of time (or energy) to spend on my laptop. As you all know, I’m waking up super early to squeeze in my workouts. Naturally I’m ready to sleep by 9 at night.
I use to always share my daily workouts and food menu. Remember? I just got tired of writing the same thing. I definitely live by the cliche “If it’s not broke don’t fix it” and my workout routines are usually variations of the same thing.
I didn’t feel very bad about now updating my workouts and food intake. Seriously, how many times did you guys need to read that I ran? But this morning at the gym I couldn’t remember if I worked out on Sunday. I’m fairly certain I did. I’m fairly certain that I’ve been hitting it hard for at least an hour since last Wednesday, but since I have no physical record I’m not completely sure.
So I think I’m going to try to jot down what I do on a more regular basis. I don’t know if I’ll keep a log and make a weekly post of my workouts or what, but I got to do something to stay on track. You guys keep me accountable and motivated!!
I’m going to say goodnight. I’ve had a long day. Ooh, and I think another article of mine will be up at Shape.com soon. I’ll keep you all posted.
In other news, Summer is quickly approaching. I’m going to have to start training for Warrior Dash soon!! Anyone else doing Warrior Dash, Tough Mudder, or a /5kmarathon/triathlon?
Love,
Holly
Sorry I didn’t post any text yesterday, everyone. I was traveling and very busy.
I didn’t get much exercise in. All I managed was 2 minutes on the elliptical, and 1.5 mile jog, plus some toning. I had to catch a train and really couldn’t risk doing one more mile or rep.
I will hitting the gym in a few minutes.
In other news, if you like funny stories or just know about the true price of beauty-aka pain- check out my new post about visiting a salon to be waxed. Ouch!
I got to the gym!! Whoop, whoop!!
I did my basic cardio routine, but I used 40 pounds of weight for the rotary twister, which I’m pretty psyched about! I looked like a real freak. My face was twisted and I dripping sweat, but I was pure warrior.
I also-as planned- only started counting crunches after it began to hurt. So maybe I hit 100 or 125 crunches??
Sorry this post is so short, but I have a lot to get done right now. Oh, FYI: Drinking a delicious protein shake!!! I don’t know if it’s a mental thing, but my stomach looked way more defined. I think it’s the shakes. Protein feeds the muscle monster. Rawr!!!
Thanks to everyone who entered the contest!!!! It means so so so much to me!!! I wish I could give something to everyone.
The winner will be chosen at 6 pm! I have collected all the names and will pull the name at the given time. I’m totally pumped!
Remember, even if you don’t win the cookbook tonight, I will be having a lot more giveaways at Fit is the New Black, and its sister site What it Feels Like for a Girl.
If I haven’t mentioned it before, you’re all winners to me (I know, I know-corny), and I really do appreciate everyone who follows and reads. It keep me motivated to log on, even when I’m super tired and busy.
If you have any questions, send it to my ask box OR if you have a big question, like needing help with a routine or diet, send it to ask4thegurl@gmail.com and I’ll not only answer it, but feature it on Fit is the New Black. Of course, I keep real names anonymous.
Had the weirdest dreams last night, which included being friends with Deena from the Jersey Shore, and spraying Windex in the face of guys who were busting into my bedroom to see me undress!
I think the whole undressing thing has to do with me looking for an internship/job, feeling exposed because of it, and the general resentment that comes along with having to prove your worthiness to people you don’t even know.
I cooked up a storm last night; all which has been photographed and will be posted tomorrow!!! Can you guess what you can make with these ingredients?

I’ll reveal the answer tomorrow, but I can share this-it’s delicious!!!
Plans for today:
Workout
Fill out more job/intern apps
Upload photos and recipes for tomorrow’s post
Read more of When She Woke
Exchange my Clinique cleansing kit for the Brighter Skin kit (my skin tone is uneven)
Call the local pool to see how much it is to join-whoop whoop for swimming!
With everything going on now, I’m going to see if there is cheaper housing around my neighborhood. Argh! The newer apartments are so much more expensive, yet so much smaller. Odd. I like the older buildings, but they generally come with a different set of problems.
I’m still sore from Insanity! Have you guys tried it?
Hi everyone! Happy New Year!!!!1
As promised, Fit is the New Black is expanding, with lots of new features, articles and things to keep you motivated on your health and fitness journey. There are new body calculators, giveaways, feature articles, playlist, and much much more. As I write this there is new content to be viewed, so view it!)
What do all these changes mean for you? They mean that the mother-site will have more articles for you to read; more reviews; more recipes and interactive tools to keep you on track.
No worries, die-hard tumblrs. I will not let this site (fitisthenewblack.tumblr.com) go to pot. It will still be filled with fitspo pics, my daily workouts and meals, links and everything it has always had. You can still message me here, but you can now also email me at ask4thegurl@gmail.com for in depth fitness and health assistance.
Why do I have two sites? Well, there are two reasons. The first being that I want a site that I can actually speak about publicly (how many of us keep our tumblrs a secret from people?). Next, some followers really need solid information and Fit is the New Black is really geared for that. It’s also a good place to have an open dialogue with me and other bloggers through the comment section. At the tumblr branch I can’t respond to replies to my questions because of how the tumblr system is set up. I find that annoying. The mother-site is designed so I can comment on your replies and basically communicate with all of you in an easier fashion. I consider the tumblr branch of the site really for VIP (aka, you guys) who want to know more about me, the things I find motivating, and all of that jazz.
For the followers who are beauty buffs, fashion lovers, book readers, and DIY inclined, check out Fit is the New Black’s sister site, What it Feels Like for a Girl. PLEASE feel free to also email me your beauty questions to ask4thegurl@gmail.com I LOVE recommending products to people, and yes, I actually go out and research your question, sample stuff, and take time to give you the best possible answer I can muster.
In closing, I hope you all check every part of my sites out. I know it seems daunting, but if you follow me on Bloglovin (there is one for this site, the main site, and What it Feels like for a Girl) you get notified about new post. Why is that important? So you don’t miss out on any of my announcements. So many of you were clueless to my last giveaway, and I suspect it is because we all have dashboards that fill up with new things every freaking second! If you are on bloglovin, let me know so I can follow you. Same goes for Twitter. I don’t have a facebook.
Once again, Happy New Year everyone! Lots of love, fitness, and health to you all!! Can’t wait to see what your blogs bring in the upcoming months, and I hope you keep checking in on mine.
xo

Hello my fellow bloggers!
I’m about to go to the gym, but I just felt like dropping a personal line to say hello.
As you all may have noticed (from past post) it has been a busy week. I’m so tired, but I’m still pushing through. I’m about to go workout, but wanted to update everyone on what is going on.
Ok, so I’m continuing building this site, as well as its sister site, What it Feels Like for a Girl. I have lots of ideas to make things bigger and better, so make sure to keep checking in with me. I created these sites for myself, but I also created them for you! I love hearing from you, reading your blogs, dropping you notes of luv and all other good vibes.
I will be having a giveaway beginning January 1, 2012. Please check here then to know how to qualify. The prize??? The wonderful cookbook, Skinny Bitch in the Kitchen: Ultimate, Everyday Cookbook.

I know, I know. Too freakin’ cool! I already own one, and can’t wait to finally started creating recipes. I was given ramekins for Christmas by my mom, so I think I may try to make personal servings of vegan mac & cheese. Yum!!! If you don’t know what a ramekin is, click here to see how one was used for this sik blueberry and pear mini cobbler.
Ok. Time to put on my gym gear.
xoxo
I ate horrible today!!
For starters, I had a sugar cookie for breakfast. A sugar cookie! I also had my usual soy latte, but a cookie?!?!
For “lunch” that took place around 4ish, I had a small pineapple and mango smoothie from Mr. Smoothie. That crap was too good to be good for you, if you know what I mean?! I generally avoid places like that, but I was helping my dad shop and he was really hungry. I could tell he didn’t want to be the only reason we were taking a break, so I had a smoothie-which I much rather consume than the fare from the Chinese food buffets. Sorry to the lovers of the stuff, but it really doesn’t bode well with my pallet.
Dinner was a left over salad that I took from my parents, and then I polished it off with not 1, not 2, but 2.5 sugar cookies. The horror. The horror.
In other news, here was my workout:
1.5 power walk
2.5 endurance run (I really kept moving for most of the time. I walked every now and then, but for the most part I hustled).
30 minutes on the elliptical
Standing side twist with 6 medicine ball
Lunges
Donkey Kicks
Crunches on abench
Leg raises
Crunches with 30 pound weight
Arm raises
Standing side raises
A few exercises on stability ball
Stretching.
Hmmm…what else. Well, my x-mas shopping is 98% done!! I just need to buy a card to put the theatre tickets I bought my mom, and I also want to purchase some candles to go along with my sister’s gift.
Ok, I’m going to watch holiday movies with my boyfriend.
Had my last final of my bachelor’s degree yesterday!! FUCK YEAH!! I can’t believe it. Totally have not processed it yet.
How am I celebrating? Baking holiday sugar cookies for the boyfriend (and myself), holiday shopping (almost done), reading your blogs, and just chillaxin. I’m also sending out resumes. It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have to deal with cover letters. They really are the worse. Sometimes I’m tempted not to be formal and just pour out my heart.
Dear HR Director of an important publication,
Please hire me. I can write. I really can. I’ve won awards-seriously. I can write, and that’s all I really know how to do. If you don’t hire me I’m screwed. I’ll have to hit the pole. I’ll have to sing for change on the street. PLEASE GIVE ME A FREAKIN’ JOB!!
Yeah, but you can’t do that.
I am currently watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Got to love the holidays! Happy Hanukkah to all of my followers who celebrate the festival of lights!
I really wish I knew how to make charts for Tumblr and blogs in general. It would be so nice to create a little workout chart to share with all of you. Alas…
1.5 power walk (got to warm up peeps!)
2 mile run (Here is the breakdown: Out of the gate I ran 1/2 mile, which is pretty good for me. I was listening to Sheibe by Lady Gaga, and Humpin Around by Bobby Brown. I walked for 1/4 mile after that, trying to keep my pace between 4.7-5.0 mph. For the next mile I switched between running 1/4 of a mile to walking 1/4 of a mile).
Elliptical for 30 minutes (levels 10,12,9,10,3,12,10,5)
.5 mile walk to cool down
Hanging leg raises
Leg lifts
Crunches
Crunches with 30 pound weight
Back extensions with 24 pounds
Walking lunges
Donkey Kicks
Arm raises with 3 pound weights
Oblique twist on stability ball
Pilates roll up on stability ball
Some of you may have noticed that I have not been creating a food log lately. This is primarily because 1) the holidays had me eating all types of non-vegan food I am way too embarrassed to mention and 2) I just have not been eating very much-must be the end of semester jitters.
I’m been busy applying to jobs, reading, and working on making new sites to house Fit is the New Black and another new blog I am starting. I will still be on Tumblr, and this site will still exist. DO NOT PANIC. I just want my website to focus more on articles and health news, where this blog currently focuses on fitspo photos, reblogs, etc. In short, I want to come up with more original and unique post. As for my other site, it will be pretty much about my life in general. The places I go; the things I see; the products I buy; the books I read; and basically all the things I’m feeling being thrown back into the real world.
Anyone, I only have two days left of regular classes. Can’t freaking believe it
