Last month I was contacted by Tribesport to do a guest post. Of course I wrote about the power of the smoothie!! Please check it out! Like it, tweet it, comment, etc. Tribesport is an awesome website that runs fitness challenges and helps fitblrs-like us-keep pushing ourselves.

This is a healthy version of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory for all the Fitblrs.

Strawberries, with cheesecake (vegan) on the side recipe

-One container of vegan cream cheese

-3/4 cup of vegan sour cream

- bag of powdered sugar *yes, this isn’t healthy, but it’s cheesecake for crying out loud!*

- Strawberries

-Crushed gram crackers

Directions

-Mix cream cheese and sour cream in a bowl, and add in powdered sugar to taste. I would start with 1/2 cup and see how sweet that is. If you want it sweeter add a little more.

-Clean berries, and cut off the top and scoop out middle with a small knife.

-Fill center of berries with cheesecake filling.

-Top with crushed gram crackers.

Recipe:

1 cup of 100% pineapple juice

1 cup of blueberries

1 banana

4 cubes of ice

* vanilla protein powder optional

Directions:

Place juice in a blender, add ice, blueberries and banana.

Blend until smooth, then add powder if you’re using any.

Blend again, then drink.

YUM YUM YUM!!! You gain 4 servings of fruit (which is considered enough for the day), possibly some protein, and the pineapple juice sweetens it, so there is no need for additional sweetener. It’s a great alternative to milk/soy/nut based smoothies when you find (as I did) that you finished the final container of unsweetened almond milk.

Happy drinking;)

Apple Critters: a healthy Halloween treat!

Rather than missing out on all the fun of spooky Halloween food because it’s usually really unhealthy (laden with sugar, colouring, etc), I decided to make my own ‘creepy’ treats!

To make four apple critters, you’ll need:

1 medium-large apple (body)

sunflower seeds (teeth)

Almond slivers (eyeballs)

Raisins (pupils)

If the raisins don’t stick on the eyes well, halve them and use a little maple syrup/agave/honey :)

Have fun and Happy Halloween!
