I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned that I don’t like green juice. I’ll slurp down a fresh pressed fruit based juice and I’m obsessed with The Red Alert, which I showed you in a recent post. But I want to wretch whenever I try something with kale, spinach, sprouts and wheat grass all blended up. It’s gnarly, like a liquified salad. I want my salad solid, thanks.
Juicing is the quickest way for the body to absorb nutrients and green drinks are particularly good, because they contain…you guessed it, dark leafy greens that are so nutrient dense yet calorically low that one glass is probably like shooting your veins with vitamins. (Editor’s Note: Please don’t shoot your veins with vitamins.)
Determined to find a way to partake in the green drink craze I recently developed a recipe that anyone who hates the typical green juice will love.
While many green drinks relay on green apples to sweeten them up, Eden’s Juice contains several different fruits, plus ginger. Ginger is good for digestion and its spicy sweet taste mask the vegetables while complimenting the fruit.
- 3-4 leaves of kale (stems included)
- 2 carrots (peeling not necessary)
- 1 orange
- 1 green apple
-1 hunk of ginger
1. Wash your vegetables, fruit and ginger and chop or rip them enough so they go into juicer with ease. First juice the vegetables, followed by the fruit, and lastly the ginger.
