I’ve seen this floating about and I finally feel like I need to comment on it.
A trained person is less likely to be jumped. Its 100% true. The benefits of walking down the street with your eyes up and forward, shoulders squared, striding like you’ve got somewhere to be - that absolute confidence, takes away the option of you being a target.
Unless you’re trained in something and practice continually you have a less likely chance of being able to defend yourself. Self defense is one of those topics that I get really uppity about so I might ramble a little here.
You wouldn’t walk into a debate without knowing the topic, have a general idea of the other teams thought process, what points they could bring up, you wouldn’t have a game plan on how to defend yourself, and your points while countering theirs. The same goes for self defense. The more you know - the better prepared you are.
My word of advice is: if you’re a lady, want to get fit AND learn how to defend yourself go do Jui-jitsu
