About a week ago my 3-day cleanse from Kaeng Raeng arrived. Since I knew I would be going to vacation I decided to hold off on using it-I mean, I wanted to be able to enjoy my vacation, right? And enjoy I did, frequently eating and drinking items I save for cheat days. Faithful readers will know that I try to avoid animal-based products, baked goods, and generally try to maintain a vegan diet. I rarely drink. Of course, these little “guidelines” were largely ignored in preparation for the upcoming event. I present the evidence below.
My boyfriend and I shared a dessert called Oreo Madness at Friday’s. I don’t even want to know the calories.
I’ve yet to see a veggie burger on the “fit and trim” menu at a restaurant. Sort of telling. And who eats any kind of burger without fries?
Gift to whomever can guess what is in this glass. Hint? Not just pineapple juice.
Can you tell I have a weakness for ice cream?
This black bean veggie burger was so good that I almost keeled over and died. I forgot to ask for no cheese.[/caption] Yeah, self restraint wasn’t a big part of my vernacular this week. But I still ate some healthy things too.
A salad made of mixed greens, black beans, corn, avocado, tomato, and two lovely tostado chips underneath.
A Peanut Butter Protein Shake-the healthy alternative to vanilla and peanut butter ice cream.[/caption] I also continued my usual routine at the gym, as well as doing some physical recreation.
My boyfriend and I intended to go hiking, but somehow the trail just turned into a path of rocks we had to climb.
And then it became clear we were straight up rock climbing. I was terrified!
When I look back on the week I feel as if I actually maintained some sort of balance-for someone who was letting herself off the hook, as they say. But I’m still more than happy to be cleansing now and getting back to my routine. I couldn’t eat another veggie burger if you paid me.
Let me know how you get ready for a cleanse. Do you take that opportunity to eat whatever you want or do you still stick to your routine? How about when on vacation?
