I don’t generally reblog this sort of thing, but ladies (and men who love ladies), know your rights! Know your politicians. You should ALL BE WORRIED when those seeking power may question your right to control your reproductive organs.
It’s part of my health so I’m going to say it.
During the Republican primary debate tonight, these four men were asked whether they believed in birth control and all of them ducked that question in favor of talking about marriage, states’ rights and the 2002 Winter Olympics. Not one of them could say, “Yeah, I’m for it.”
You may be for birth control and you may be against, and that is your right, but its use is protected in this country and affirmed by the Supreme Court — in 1965. Before I was born, and most of you reading this as well. Since when did my ability to make my own reproductive health choices become so controversial? I don’t go to, say, Rick Santorum’s house and demand that he use some. Because it’s not my business. And it’s not my business what kind of birth control you use, or whether you use it. But I believe you can! And so does the law.
I have no idea why we still have to make this clear in 2012, but as a woman who votes (because that is also my right), I am keeping a close eye on those who have the chance to speak up for me and don’t.
